Environmental excellence as the basis for our development
Occupational health and safety are fundamental values at Atlantic Copper. We are committed to the objective of zero accidents, because the people who work for us and for the companies that do business with us are more important than anything.
Our vision is to create a safe, healthy place to work, so all our employees can go home safe and sound at the end of the day.
That is why employee well-being and employee protection are priorities in our management programs. These values form part of our corporate culture, which shows in every part of our daily routine, from training programs to safety committees and the commitment of each and every one of our employees to personal safety.
To keep these principles strong, our Prevention Service carries out all the tasks defined in our health and safety policy and included in the Integrated Safety Management System (SIGSAC) that we introduced in 1996.
We comply with all procedures exhaustively, and each year we run in-house and legal audits following occupational risk prevention rules and regulations. In 2010 we also earned certification under OHSAS 18001 health and safety management standards.
As we have already mentioned, safety is an issue for everybody. Accordingly, we have a detailed, systematized training plan that all company employees follow regularly. We have also developed specific safety training for each type of operation and service.
In addition, Atlantic Copper has an in-house medical service that conducts regular examinations and has the medical practitioners and equipment to respond to any eventuality.
