Flash Smelting Furnace Sulphur Dioxide (SO2)

Flash smelting produces gases whose sulphur dioxide content ranges between 25 and 30%. This gas is hot, 1,350 °C, and can be used to make high-pressure steam, which in its turn can be used to generate electricity at the power plant. Approximately 20 to 25% of the electricity the complex uses is generated right at the site. This gas is also the fundamental ingredient for making sulphuric acid.
